As a Research Projects Officer, you will be a part of the Photovoltaics team within the Solar Group, based at the CSIRO Energy Centre in Newcastle, NSW. You will participate in the team’s research, including providing technical support. There will be a focus on procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of three specific new facilities for solar photovoltaics testing. The work may include some software coding and/or dealing with vendors of custom software solutions.

Your duties will include:


  • Communicate with suppliers to refine options for the new equipment;
  • Use CSIRO procedures to ensure the new equipment is procured correctly and delivered on schedule;
  • Work with CSIRO IT and Facilities departments to ensure the equipment is located and installed appropriately;
  • Commission and test the new equipment;
  • Perform measurements for clients/partners;
  • Maintain the new equipment;
  • Logistics activities; packaging equipment for shipping, operation of site forklift etc.
  • Other duties as directed

Location: Newcastle, NSW

Salary: AU$66k to AU$84k pa + up to 15.4% super

To be considered you will need:


  • Undergraduate degree in physics, electrical engineering or a related discipline
  • A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment.

Desirable


  • Experience working with or maintaining complex or sensitive equipment
  • A good working knowledge of electronics
  • Good written communication skills, including the ability to prepare safety documentation and
  • procedures
  • Ability to write Python software code
  • Experience testing photovoltaic devices
  • Have a current forklift license or willing to be trained on forklift operation

Eligibility
